– Posljednje dvije godine praktično smo ostali bez finansija. Naši uposlenici žive i rade bez penzionog i zdravstvenog osiguranja, bez plaća.

Gomilanje problema

Rješenje Busuladžić vidi u sudskom postupku.

– Muzej će zatvoriti svoja vrata u vrijeme kada slavi 124 godine postojanja. Ovo nema veze s lokalnim izborima.

The National Museum to close on 4 October!

The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina will close its door to public on 4 October. The oldest cultural and historical institution in our region will  be overrun by emptiness and silence.

Phones, internet, faxes, everything will be shut down. Of 65 employees, only few will come to office mainly to protect the collection. Solution for the financial agony is nowhere in sight, says director of the Museum Adnan Busuladžić.

-Over the last two years we practically ran out of money. Out employees work and live without pension and health insurance, and with no salaries. Debt towards the employees has gone over one million and four hundred thousand Convertible Marks (BAM) as they have not received last thirteen salaries – says Busuladžić.

He says that all relevant levels of administration have been notified about this problem, from cantonal level to the State Prime Minister;  the only response came from the Ministry of the War Veteran Affairs and its Minister, Vahid Karavelić, even though the Museum is most certainly not under their jurisdiction.

-There are some positive aspects to this crisis; the initiative by Mirvad Kurić and Mirko Pejanović received support in the Parliament last year, but the executive power failed. Actually, any option that they proposed  only ‘diluted the problem without offering effective solutions’ given-says the director.

Busuladžić believes that a lawsuit could be the only solution at their disposal.

-The Museum will close its doors on its 124th birthday. This has nothing to do with local elections. We simply cannot go like this any longer. Our problems started piling up ever since the post-Dayton authorities failed to decide upon who the ‘legal founding and sponsoring entity is’. Whether it is the State of B&H or the local community in which the Museum is located.  Only a long and painful court battle can now prove that  ‘The National Museum has not fallen from the skies’- says Busuladžić and adds that it is the only way left to pinpoint the legal sponsoring entity of this institution.
